EU/ENG - The Voices festival was held in Florence from March 10 to 12, 2026. It is a major initiative dedicated to european journalism and media freedom, which visited several European cities. It is co-funded by the European Commission. Voices is organized by a consortium of European organizations. These are the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (lead partner based at the European University Institute), the European Federation of Journalists, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), the AISBL EBU-UER, the European Association for Spectators' Interests, the European Association for Journalism Education, Lie Detectors, Savoir Devenir, and Deutsche Welle.
Now in its third edition, following the first in Florence in March 2024 and the second in Zagreb in March 2025, the festival focused on the future of the profession and the media, with a particular focus on the future of media literacy and information in Europe. It brought together journalists, media professionals, academics, researchers, and advocates for press freedom at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The festival addressed the transformations of the information ecosystem, the role of journalism in contemporary democracies, and the challenges posed by the digital revolution. With over a thousand participants, Voices created a space for dialogue between professionals, European institutions, cultural operators, and the public, addressing pressing issues such as media pluralism and the sustainability of journalism.
It was three intense days with over 70 speakers, thematic sessions, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
The choice of Florence as the festival's venue reinforces the city's role as a center of international cultural debate. The next edition will be held in Greece.

EU/ITA - Il festival Voices si è tenuto a Firenze dal 10 al 12 marzo 2026. Si tratta di un'importante iniziativa itinerante dedicata al giornalismo e alla libertà dei media, che ha toccato diverse città europee. È cofinanziato dalla Commissione europea. Voices è organizzato da un consorzio di organizzazioni europee: il Centro per il pluralismo dei media e la libertà dei media (partner capofila con sede presso l'Istituto Universitario Europeo), la Federazione Europea dei Giornalisti, il Centro Europeo per la Libertà di Stampa e dei Media (ECPMF), l'AISBL EBU-UER, l'Associazione Europea per gli Interessi degli Spettatori, l'Associazione Europea per la Formazione Giornalistica, Lie Detectors, Savoir Devenir e Deutsche Welle.
Giunto alla sua terza edizione, dopo la prima a Firenze nel marzo 2024 e la seconda a Zagabria nel marzo 2025, il festival, incentrato sul futuro della professione e dei media, con particolare attenzione al futuro dell'alfabetizzazione mediatica e dell'informazione in Europa, ha riunito giornalisti, professionisti dei media, accademici, ricercatori e sostenitori della libertà di stampa presso il Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Il festival ha affrontato le trasformazioni dell'ecosistema informativo, il ruolo del giornalismo nelle democrazie contemporanee e le sfide poste dalla rivoluzione digitale. Con oltre mille partecipanti, Voices ha creato uno spazio di dialogo tra professionisti, istituzioni europee, operatori culturali e pubblico, affrontando temi urgenti come il pluralismo dei media e la sostenibilità del giornalismo.
Sono stati tre giorni intensi con oltre 70 relatori, sessioni tematiche, workshop interattivi, mostre e opportunità di networking.
La scelta di Firenze come sede del festival rafforza il ruolo della città come centro del dibattito culturale internazionale. La prossima edizione si terrà in Grecia.
