EU/EN - Political Germany restarts with the vote for the new government on Tuesday 6 May 2025, the day on which, in the Bundestag, the second vote achieved an absolute majority that allows the leader of the CDU Friedrich Merz to become chancellor at 69 years of age. For at least two decades Merz had aimed to fill the role he holds today, having not had space under Angela Merkel. He is the oldest politician in German history to succeed. He takes the place of Olaf Scholz, who was greeted with the traditional honors on Monday evening. At the beginning of April, the leaders of the Christian Democrats and the Social Democrats had found the agreement that was approved by their respective bases last week.
Merz's ministers
There are 17 ministers in Friedrich Merz's government: 7 from the CDU, 3 from the CSU and 7 from the SPD. The distribution of ministries reflects the priorities of the new government. Merz has created a National Security Council to improve foreign policy coordination, renewed defense commitment, and budget flexibility to reinvigorate the investment-growth cycle. Johann Wadephul of the CDU, who is pro-Ukrainian and known for having called for greater military aid for Kiev, will be the Foreign Ministry. Alexander Dobrindt of the CSU will be the Interior Ministry. Former CDU MP Katherina Reiche will be the Economy Ministry. Patrick Schnieder will be the Transport Ministry, Nina Warken will be the Health Ministry, Thorsten Frei will be the Chancellery Minister, and Karin Prien will be the Education Minister. There will also be 5 State Ministers: publisher Wolfram Weimar will be the Culture Minister, Christiane Schenderlein will be the Sports Minister, Michael Meister will be the State-Länder Cooperation Minister, Serap Gueler and Gunther Kirchbaum will be the Foreign Minister.
Renewed, except for Pistorius at Defense, the SPD government team: younger, with a prevalence of women over men (6 to 3, with the undersecretaries). Above all, Lars Klingbeil, the man of negotiations with Merz, new federal vice-chancellor and minister of finance.
ITA - La Germania politica riparte dal voto al nuovo governo di martedi 6 maggio 2025, giorno in cui, nel Bundestag, alla seconda votazione è stata raggiunta la maggioranza assoluta che permette al leader della Cdu Friedrich Merz di diventare cancelliere a 69 anni. Da almeno due decenni Merz puntava a ricoprire il ruolo che oggi ricopre, non avendo avuto spazio con Angela Merkel. è il politico più anziano nella storia tedesca che ci riesce. Prende il posto di Olaf Scholz, che lunedì sera è stato salutato con i tradizionali onori. A inizio aprile i dirigenti dei cristiano-democratici e i socialdemocratici, avevano trovato l'accordo che era stato approvato, dalle rispettive basi, la settimana scorsa.

Merz ha creato un Consiglio di sicurezza nazionale per migliorare il coordinamento su politica estera, rinnovato impegno nella difesa e flessibilità di bilancio per rinvigorire il ciclo investimenti-crescita.
per il ministero degli Agli esteri va Johann Wadephul, della CDU, su posizioni filo ucraine, noto per aver chiesto maggiori aiuti militari per Kiev. Agli Interni è destinato Alexander Dobrindt della CSU. All’ex deputata della CDU Katherina Reiche toccherà il ministero dell’Economia. Ai Trasporti andrà Patrick Schnieder, Nina Warken alla Salute, Thorsten Frei sarà ministro della cancelleria e Karin Prien ministra dell’Istruzione.
Ci saranno anche 5 ministri di Stato: l’editore Wolfram Weimar alla Cultura, Christiane Schenderlein alla Sport, Michael Meister alla collaborazione fra Stato e Laender, Serap Gueler e Gunther Kirchbaum agli Esteri.
Rinnovata, tranne Pistorius alla Difesa, la compagine Spd al governo: più giovane, con prevalenza di donne sui maschi (6 a 3, con i sottosegretari). Su tutti, Lars Klingbeil, l'uomo delle trattative con Merz, nuovo vicecancelliere federale e ministro delle finanze.
