Il Consiglio europeo di giugno. Concesso status a Ucraina e Moldavia di Paesi candidati

Concesso lo status di “Paese candidato” per l’entrata nell’UE a ’Ucraina e in Moldova. Dovrà aspettare la Georgia, pur riconoscendone il “futuro europeo"

Il Consiglio europeo, riunito a Bruxelles il 23 giugno, ha concesso lo status di “Paese candidato” per l’entrata nell’Unione europea all’Ucraina e alla Repubblica di Moldova. Il Consiglio ha seguito le raccomandazioni della Commissione europea. Dovrà invece aspettare la Repubblica di Georgia, nonostante i leader europei abbiano riconosciuto il “futuro europeo” di Tbilisi.

Il vertice ha ribadito la posizione dei leader europei sulla guerra della Russia all’Ucraina, appoggiando, in particolare: la continuazione del sostegno militare e finanziario a Kiev; il piano di aiuti finanziari da 9 miliardi di euro previsto dalla Commissione; la prosecuzione delle sanzioni contro Mosca; la necessità di sbloccare lo stallo del grano nel Mar Nero per prevenire future crisi alimentari nel mondo.
