Scholz: prepariamoci ad un conflitto lungo in Ucraina

Bilaterale con Stoltenberg per preparare il prossimo vertice dell'Alleanza Atlantica di luglio a Vilnius

"Dobbiamo preparaci alla possibilità che la guerra della Russia in Ucraina possa durare ancora a lungo". così ha dichiarato il cancelliere tedesco Olaf Scholz In conferenza stampa a margine di un incontro bilaterale a Berlino del 19 giugno con il segretario generale della Nato Jens Stoltenberg . 

 

Verso il vertice di Vilnius a luglio

Scholz ha sottolineato come  "la Nato non diventerà parte del conflitto" in Ucraina, parole in linea con il segretario della Nato Jens Stoltenberg il quale ha spiegato che "a Vilnius (prossimo vertice Nato, 11 e 12 luglio) non discuteremo di un invito formale all'Ucraina. E su questo ci sono consultazioni continue e non voglio anticiparle", ma aggiungendo che "i membri dell'alleanza sono già molto concordi sul fatto che le porte della Nato sono aperte". 

E Stoltenberg ha aggiunto che "l'Ucraina ha il diritto di liberare il suo Paese", e per questo "non potrà essere accettate una pace diktat".

 

L'aumento della capacità di difesa

 

Secondo il cancelliere Scholz, il suo governo ha fatto tutti i preparativi necessari al fine di aumentare le spese per la difesa al 2 per cento del Pil, come previsto dall'obiettivo Nato stabilito nel 2014 con scadenza nel 2024. Il governo Scholz è ricorso al budget federale ma anche utilizzando il fondo speciale che è stato pensato per poter effettivamente spendere il 2%. Scholz ha sottolineato. “La nostra prospettiva è del 2%, presumo che una volta che tutti i paesi in Europa avranno raggiunto questo obiettivo e tutti i membri dell'Alleanza transatlantica, ciò porterà a un enorme aumento delle nostre capacità di difesa. È un massiccio aumento della spesa per la difesa e se si guarda a molti altri paesi e si tiene conto di questo, paesi che devono anche aumentare la propria spesa per raggiungere l'obiettivo del 2%. Quindi, se si somma tutto questo, ciò si tradurrà in un massiccio aumento delle capacità di difesa della Nato”.
