ECB cuts interest rates by another 0.25 percent

EU/EN - The European Central Bank has cut its key interest rates for the eighth time, cutting them by 25 basis points. The interest rates on the deposit facility, the main refinancing operations and the marginal lending facility will therefore be cut to 2%, 2.15% and 2.40% respectively, effective from 11 June 2025. The eighth cut and uncertain forecasts There are good reasons to believe that the current ECB rate cycle has probably bottomed out, around 2%, provided that the European economy can absorb the shock from US tariffs without suffering serious disruption. It cannot be ruled out that inflation may start to rise again, aided by the fiscal stimulus linked to investments in military infrastructure announced in the European Union, generating the need to keep the ECB's attention high in terms of monetary policy and prudence on further cuts if not a recovery, perhaps in 2026, of some increases.
