Ecofin : Gentiloni, public investments must not be reduced

Giovedi 11 e venerdi 12 aprile si sono tenuti Eurogruppo ed Ecofin. Il commissario Gentiloni ha chiesto di non ridurre gli investimenti pubblici nell'Ue.

Al Punto stampa dell'Eurogruppo dell'11 aprile il commissario agli affari economici Ue Gentiloni ha dichiarato che, oltre al NextGeneration EU è importante "pensare ad altri piani di investimento comuni, per esempio sulla difesa comune europea".

Secondo Gentiloni nei consessi economici dell'Unione è utile considerare, quando Next Generation Eu sarà concluso, che risorse derivate da nuovi bond europei sui mercati possono essere utilizzate per altri importanti obiettivi comuni. Il commissario ha fatto notare che "questa non è una discussione che avverrà fra quattro anni, ma è di queste settimane”.

L'indomani, venerdi 12 aprile, in occasione del suo arrivo all'Ecofin in Lussemburgo, il commissario Gentiloni ha significativamente dichiarato che nell'Unione “non bisogna ridurre gli investimenti pubblici”.

Il commissario ha sottolineato che “certamente i paesi fortemente indebitati hanno un impegno particolare a ridurre il proprio debito in modo progressivo e differenziato da un paese all’altro. Le nuove regole del Patto di stabilità , che spero vengano approvate in via definitiva dal Parlamento europeo la prossima settimana, costituiscono un percorso di medio termine progressivo ma molto convincente - ha rimarcato - Ci sarà una riduzione del debito, l'importante è che questa sia non fatto a scapito degli investimenti pubblici”, ha aggiunto. “Per fortuna fino ad oggi, nonostante la crisi finanziaria di dieci o quindici anni fa, gli investimenti pubblici in Europa non sono diminuiti, ma al contrario sono aumentati. E dobbiamo continuare a farlo. L’idea che per ridurre il debito dobbiamo ridurre gli investimenti pubblici sarebbe un’idea negativa”, ha concluso Gentiloni.
