In una nota di metà giugno Eurostat, ha diffuso dati sul rischio povertà nell'Unione europea. 

Lo scorso anno, secondo l'istituto statistico, ben 95,3 milioni di persone nell'Unione europea, pari al 21,6% della popolazione, sono state a rischio di povertà o di esclusione sociale. Un dato allarmante, seppur sostanzialmente stabile rispetto al 2021, quando erano 95,4 milioni le persone a rischio. 

In media le donne nell'Ue rischiano di scivolare tra gli indigenti più degli uomini (22,7% rispetto al 20,4%). I dati aggregati per famiglie rilevano che rischia la povertà oltre un quinto (22,4%) dei nuclei con figli a carico. 

I valori più allarmanti sono stati rilevati in Romania (34%) e Bulgaria (32%). Anche dal fronte euromediterraneo arrivano dati di accentuata vulnerabilità dei sistemi sociali, con Grecia e Spagna (entrambe al 26%). l'Italia al 24,4%, con 14,3 milioni di persone a rischio. Le percentuali di popolazioni a rischio povertà sono sorprendemente più basse in Repubblica Ceca (12%), Slovenia (13%) e Polonia (16%).
