ITA - L'Europa si è risvegliata frastornata dopo l'attacco degli Stati Uniti all'Iran nelle prime ore notturne di domenica il 22 giugno. Gli aerei sono decollati dalle basi statunitensi di Guam e Diego Garcia, colpendo con bombe a penetrazione le centrali nucleari iraniane di Fordow, Natanz ed Esfahan. L'intervento americano è giunto a sostegno della settimana di attacchi selettivi ma d'impatto lanciati da Israele verso Teheran.
Von der Leyen e Kallas invitano alla moderazione
La presidente dell'Ue Ursula von der Leyen ha scritto sulla rete X che la stabilità nella regione deve essere una priorità, così come il rispetto del diritto internazionale. L'invito della presidente è anche nella domenica del clamoroso attacco è di trovare una soluzione diplomatica.
Il capo della politica estera dell'Ue Kaja Kallas in un post sui social media ha scritto: “Esorto tutte le parti a fare un passo indietro”, dopo che nelle scorse ore aveva insistito sulla necessità di impedire all'Iran di sviluppare un'arma nucleare, pur avendo già esortato le parti coinvolte nel conflitto a mostrare moderazione.
Un ritornello che rischia di suonare a vuoto. Dalle cancellerie europee sono giunti comunicati con i quali si è chiarito di non aver partecipato alla missione.
Il precipitare degli eventi ha ampiamente vanificato i tentativi di dialogo a Ginevra dei Paesi del Formato E3, ovvero Francia, Gran Bretagna e Germania, con il ministro degli esteri iraniano. Londra e Parigi siedono inoltre nel consiglio di sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite e la comunità transatlantica della Nato è in procinto di riunirsi all'Aia dal 24 al 26 giugno 2025.

The US intervention came in support of Israel's week of selective but impactful attacks on Tehran.
Von der Leyen and Kallas call for moderation
EU President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the X network that stability in the region must be a priority, as must respect for international law. The president's call is also on the Sunday of the sensational attack and to find a diplomatic solution.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in a post on social media wrote: “I urge all parties to step back,” after having insisted in the past few hours on the need to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, while urging the parties involved in the conflict to show restraint.

The precipitating nature of events has largely thwarted attempts at dialogue in Geneva by the E3 Format countries, namely France, Great Britain and Germany, with the Iranian foreign minister. London and Paris also sit on the United Nations Security Council and the transatlantic NATO community is about to meet in The Hague from 24 to 26 June 2025.
